May 3, 201312 yr Anyone know what this is from? also which side goes up (toward the steering wheel) and which side down (toward the gearbox). Thanks, I aquired this without knowing it's origin and want to use is on an older lifted car.
May 3, 201312 yr short end goes to the rack longer sleeve goes to the steering column Thats commonly found on the Gen 2 Outbacks/Gen 3 Legacy (2000-2004) And on some of the older EA cars (power steering rack IIRC) I would avoid using that style because of the rag joint. Its gonna get hot when you weld an extension on the center of the shaft. The most modifiable ones are found on the 96-99 Outbacks

May 13, 201312 yr Author "short end goes to the rack longer sleeve goes to the steering column" by short end and long end, I assume you mean if it were split at the rubber. In other words, the pic is correct, up side is up. correct?
May 13, 201312 yr you are over complicating it. look at the spline length. one end will have a half inch of splines, the other end will have 2 inches of splines.... The bottom would goto the steering column, the top (in your hand) would goto the bottom. It only fits one way lol Edited May 13, 201312 yr by torxxx
