October 19, 201312 yr I have the rear strut/spring swap done, over 10,000 miles on it.. Even after cutting some coils off the back the car still sits 3" higher in the back then front, and the front springs are to soft. I read of some suggestions on other springs that might work ford tempo, etc.... But other members have mentioned the ford tempo springs were to small. I dont want to waste $$ and buy springs that I cant use. Anyone have a front coil spring swap that works?
October 19, 201312 yr Tempo springs DO work, but dont lift it just on the springs, get or make a proper lift. Josh
October 22, 201312 yr The back has different suspension than the front. In the back, the wheel doesn't change chamber when it rotates up and down, its on a simple trailing arm. Lifting the front on springs only will change the geometry of the front suspension and you'll have horrible front chamber, not to mention you'll have about an inch or two of down travel which is hard on your struts. A proper lift will bring the top of the struts in towards the center of the car to offset the geometry change. Josh
October 22, 201312 yr Author good point! I would like to swap out for some stiffer ones still and keep it stock height. maybe get a lift kit but they seem pricey.
October 28, 201312 yr Guys are making lift kits on here cheap! Out of 2" square tubing...not sure who, but saw it on here somewhere.
