Can't find a similar thread already posted.  The daytime-running-lights on my '05 Outback just refused to come on this morning, both of them.  Never been a problem before.  No other problems observed.

 

Any advice on the most likely problem?   Thinking it's not the bulbs, since both lights quit at the same time.

 

Keep it simple, I'm only enough of a car-guy to be dangerous.

Always check the bulbs and fuses first.

Does it use the headlamp bulbs for the DRLs? Or a separate bulb?

Do the high and low beam headlamps work normally?

Can't check til I get home tonight, was looking for someone who may have had a similar experience.

 

High and low beams seem to work normally.  Will check bulbs tonight.

Will check for a separate bulb for DRL...  never had to look before.

E-brake handle switch open or open circuit

That was it!   E-brake slightly engaged.  Release the e-brake and the running lights work like they should.  Thanks much!
