Ej22e crank sensor question

Featured Replies

This is odd.. Not sure to me it seems like the crank sensor is broken, but I tried to remove my crank sensor out of a Ej22 oil pump and it's like I can rotate the sensor but the part that near the crank sprocket it does not move, I'm almost positive that this whole area should be a hole for the sensor?

Wow it's not moving.. guess I'm going to have to drill it out or hammer now that I got the top part off..

Jesus.. heat, kroil and hammering it was in pretty good!

Man that corrosion was the worst I've ever seen, finally got it out at least.

Yup, the metal cup is actually the outside edge of the sensor and it has corroded to the aluminum housing.

First I've ever seen that happen.. I've taken mine off a Ej25 at like 230K and it came out just fine..

Oh well, at least I did it now then later.

Happens all the time. The sensor housing is stainless steel. Stainless and aluminum don't play well together. Coat the new sensor with antiseize or some anti-corrosive grease before installing it.
