mikeanderso
Hello everyone, the clearcoat on the hood scoop of my 98 outback wagon is chipping off. the paint on the rest of the hood is fine, just the scoop. Anyone know if you can separate the scoop from the hood without destroying the hood? If so, How? Thanks! Mike A.
rcoaster
Quick correction: the 1996 Outback had no hood scoop. Only the 97-99 models had the scoop. I beleive there's a plate under the hood that can be removed. You might find something under there to remove the scoop, otherwise, you're stuck. 97subaruGT
Yup, you can deifnitely remove the scoop. Take off the heat shield to reveal a metal place. Unscrew 6 or so small metal screws and the scoop comes right out. 10-15 minutes with rusted in screws..
