February 24, 201412 yr My headliner is all dry and brittle, and I need to re cover it. Trying to figure out if the whole thing comes out as a shell and whether I can get it out and back in without wrecking it. The alternative is working upside down with spray adhesive. I guess if I ever want roof lights, this would be a good time to wire them. Anyone that can clue me in would be appreciated.
August 16, 201510 yr Author Please can someone tell me how to get this thing out without wrecking it?? How do the 'buttons' remove? How to get the trim holding edges loose? Want to get it re-covered and back in quickly...Any help greatly appreciated!
August 18, 201510 yr The upper plastics have to pop out, along with any rubber trim, sun visors, dome light and a few pop clips. It's fairly easy, just time consuming. If it's a wagon, it'll slide out the back hatch. If it's a sedan or a coupe, removing the seats makes it easier to get it out. I've used 3M 90 spray adhesive and gray suede to wrap my wife's rear deck lid and headliner for her Outback and it came out nice.
