March 9, 201412 yr Howdy all! I have inherited my son's '88 dl wagon after he moved on to a mustang and I am fixing it up to be my daily driver. Today I found the vacuum leak that was keeping heater selector buttons from working but it also needs a new blower motor switch. It is the 4 position rotary switch. I have been to all my go to local stores and rockauto but no-one has it listed. Anybody have a source? Thank you!
March 9, 201412 yr If you can no longer get one from a Subaru parts shop you will have to go to a salvage yard for one. You could also try the parts section of this forum.
March 9, 201412 yr Author I was afraid of that. No dealer locally and very few Subarus in the local salvage yards. Gives me a reason for a road trip, like I really need a reason!
March 9, 201412 yr hi, just asking, but are you sure it is the switch, there is a resistor thing that controls the speeds. it is mounted in the case near the blower motor, has 2 wires and is just a small box like appearance, black plastic.
March 9, 201412 yr Ruparts makes a good point. If you haven't proved the switch is really bad then you should check the resistor pack as that is what usually goes bad a way lot more than the switch does when having speed control problems.
March 9, 201412 yr Author Actually, I pulled the switch apart to see if it could be cleaned up and it has gotten hot due to corroded contacts and melted the plastic. The motor works on all speeds if I jump the leads. Thanks for all the input!
