I think I might need a trans for my 1984 subaru gl automatic wagon. I was looking on eBay and they say 1985-and up so is there a differnce between the 1984 and 1985 4wd automatics?

You can use the newer ones but might need to swap rear diff to match ratio. (yours will be 3.7 rear diff  most newer 3spd have 3.9)

 

All 3AT trans will interchange.
