Custom turbo header

Featured Replies

Hmmm... I'm not sure I'd like the exhaust piping running so close to the oil filter and oil cooler lines.

Plan to wrap them or something?

Commuter

Header wrap good.

Custom s*** also good.

isn't that how close the headers are on the legacy turbo and wrx?

Well actually that is a stock header, just with the crossover pipes extended and the uppipe made a bit differently.

I dont think It can be refered to as stock anymore. Sure it uses some parts of the stock crossover pipe but that is it. This design will clean up the flow. The manifold comes no closer than the stocker and actually takes away heated surface area from the oil cooler area. The up pipe is ALL fabricated with the exception of the 2 into 1 flange at the bottom.

I posted up some more pics of the progress.

Oh I see, its hard to tell what is going on with the uppipe. I thought you basically used the stock cast iron parts of the header and extended them a little along with the crossover pipe, but its more complicated than that.

Why are you setting it up like this again?

i know that orange engine from somewhere......... you work at frantic four dont you?

Yes this is being done at Frantic Four. The 99 rs is rearwheel drive now too. :brow: It should be fun!

  • Author

It is Kris Barnes car, and at this time he is just going to use a turbo off a liberty we have here. There are plans for a much bigger unit shortly though.
