From reading post, sounds like the windshields are different from Gen 1 to Gen 2 Brat.   I found a gasket listed that says 80-89.  Is there a difference between Gen 1 & Gen 2 gasket?

Certainly a difference, they are basically nothing alike.

 

'80 to '89 would suggest Gen 2 gasket, although it really should start from '82. The years listed for aftermarket Subaru parts are generally, woefully inaccurate!

you could make it fit by shortening it to fit and using plenty of window weld urethane.

I need a windshield gasket for a 79 wagon, and they dont seem to be available at all.

 

Wondered myself if anything else could be made to fit, might be worth a try to fit a later model ?

 

I wouldn't use that window weld urethane though, it will just MELT rubber gaskets.

 

It's made to attach glass to metal window frames ! (late model type without a rubber gasket)

OK, Thanks.  I got an email back from them that said it fit a 79, but agree expect they don't know.

I found and ordered one from Precision Replacement Parts last week.

 

Fitment is 78-81 Brat, Price $50.10, Part Number  WCR 288

I received the gasket a couple of days ago.  Haven't installed it yet, but it looks perfect.
