The plan is:

- 77 wagon body

- 86 turbo wagon power plant

- front custom nice travel McPherson struts/multi link suspension

- rear swing axle made from original axle, maybe vw style

Yep , Start with something else. After all the money you spend trying to make it work. It still won't. Unless you have a fab shop, or tons of cash that is.

You right, I thought about getting the 3G chasis under the 1G body

Expensive, but doable. I built a full tube frame and am running the suspension/ drive train off that, allows for mounting of aftermarket parts much easier. Buggest expenses are the suspension itself, and labor.
