Wiper motor removal

Featured Replies

Hey all. I've been prepping my engine bay for paint (79 brat), and I'm attempting to remove the wiper motor but I can't seem to get it off the arm. I'll admit I'm being rather delicate with it, as I don't want to break the plastic in there and then not be able to find a replacement, but can someone kind of walk me through how you get it off the mechanical arm under the leaf guard area? I appreciate any assistance.

Soooo... I used a 12 point 11/16 socket. Got it off, but it did crack two of the tabs in the process. I haven't tried to hook it back up yet, so I don't know how well or if it will fit... Guess it's a good thing I live in a desert with about .001" of total rainfall annually.

Anyway just finished painting the engine bay. I'll post pics in my other build thread when I get it all put back together.

Ugh, still have nightmares of those clips :/

Like I said the 21" socket seemed to get those clips off best. But overall that plastic is super brittle.
