1992 subaru legacy 2.2 gx fwd

Featured Replies

1992 subaru legacy 2.2 GX fwd. Having trouble with gearbox. Only selects 3rd gear , jacked the car up to run it through the gear an it just makes a loud clunking noise. Had the clutch in an wheels would still spin as if it was slightly engaged... what should i do? Get a gearbox from wreckers? An also im finding the steering is getting wierd, id turn an there would be resistance as i straighten up. Not sure maybe powersteering pump ? ... also im just wondering if theres any other subaru models that have a gearboxes that can be intalled an run no issues an minimal mods to do so. Also are there much performance parts/ later model subaru engine parts that can be put on the ej22 single cam as well.. love the engine and am willing to squeeze what i can out of it. Thanks .

auto trans????

in the auto trans this usually indicates that the electronics are not working in the trans

and the trans is in limp mode.

reverse and 3rd only, so you can limp home.

do you have a blinking ''power'' light at start up?

Manual gearbox. I jacked up the front of the car and put it in 3rd with the cluth in and in neutral . The wheels spin like its slightly engaged. I let the clutch ouy an Rev'd through 3rd and loud clunky noise.
