Anaerobic sealer on oil pump + new gasket

Featured Replies

I already replaced the micky mouse gasket, but its still leaking. I pulled it back off to make sure the gasket was set properly, and it was.

so I bought another micky mouse gasket, and I was wondering if a thin layer of anaerobic sealer around the outside of the gasket on the machined surface is a good idea.

I sealed my EA82 oil pump with anaerobic + micky gasket last June. Also did my water pump without ANY gasket - just the anaerobic.

Not a DROP of oil or water leaked to this day!

Great stuff.

P.S. I did a thin layer of Anaerobic outside AND inside the mickey gasket, don't worry - the excess will be washed away in the oil and won't cause problems..

One other thing - make sure the machined surfaces are FLAT, and parallel (no gaps) before applying anaerobic. Tighten the bolts with a torque wrench TO SPEC, in a zigzag pattern so you don't warp the oil pump while clamping.

Oh yeah... almost forgot.

Replace the O-Ring and oil seal while you're in there... those can lead to leaks and lifter "tick of death" too.
