Is there anyway to put the 3rd gen legacy front clip on a 2nd gen or is it out of the question thanks in advanc

Completely different mounting assemblies.  Totally different type. 

 

2nd gen bumper mounts extend into the frame rails.

 

3rd gen mounts to a flat plate of 4 bolts at ends of rail.

 

Anything is possible if you want to fabricate alot....but it won't bolt up without MAJOR work.
