Is the power steering pumps the same on the GL's and XT's? On Rock Auto, they list a kit for the XT, but not the GL. I'm rebuilding mine and things would be easier if I could just get that kit and be done with it.

Roach Auto's database is very inaccurate.  They will send you a wrong stuff and you will pay return shipment.

 

It is possible to rebuild the steering pump.  The only problem is the copper gasket.  I bought a set of gasket material at Kragen and cut a gasket myself.  Three thousand miles and it still does not leak.
