Baja Tailgate latch repair

While we were up in northern Cali visiting in-laws the tailgate on Baja quit on me. It was a pain lifting the cooler and luggage up and over so I wanted it fixed. Searched here Google and with little patience for that just jumped in here is the steps to a functioning tailgate,

25 torx bolts on the plastic liner removed gently pull the liner until it pops out of the ends. Or you can get at the inner cover bolts

remove the inner cover

reach in and put the rod back in the hole to open gate

Mine was a broken plastic keeper and of course no one had one. So to me it looked like a throttle rod keeper.

It wasn't quite long enough so I cut the first clip part off

It worked perfect after a little tri flow lube.
