December 19, 201411 yr Hey all, Was the 1986 wagon turbo made as FI or Carbed? I'm meeting a guy to see about a supposed '86 Turbo, but he goes on to talk about a "small fuel leak behind the Carburetor". I don't ever remember seeing a carbed turbo in this gen Subaru... n/a engines sure, but not turbos. He could very well be referring to a fuel line going into something other than a Carb. I figured I would dip into the eternal knowledge of the Ultimatesubaru team. I am waiting on him to send me a picture of the engine bay - then I'll be able to tell. He doesn't seem too tech savvy, so it might be a while on that picture. The Turbo decals on the back doors.. does the attached image look like it has one? The reason I'm asking these questions is my concern that this is a ea82, not a ea82t. Thanks guys. Coatchawa
December 19, 201411 yr Author I also just noticed from the location of the mirrors, and lack of checkered grill that this should actually be a 87+, not an 86. Can someone confirm this as well? Edited December 19, 201411 yr by Coatchawa
December 19, 201411 yr It will be a fuel injected with 4 injectors. Thinking 87 was the year Subaru switched from the "flapper" AFM to the other type. If it has the manual transmission, excellent chance it also has the LSD rear differential.
