ea71 flywheel installation

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 1980 brat last week that needed a clutch. I pulled the motor and clutch and noticed my flywheel teeth were pretty marred up, so I ordered a new one. Like an idiot when I took the old one off, I didn't pay attention to where the timing marks went...

Can anyone help me figure out how to get it properly aligned?

Also, how do you get the pilot bearing out of the rear main seal?

Thanks,

Ryan

I learned same as you , those flywheel bolt patterns allow for only one way that the holes will all line up. Place it on and rotate it until you're sure they are all lined up pretty. I also have a worn spot of teeth but rushed last time and now desire to swap in the one I bought like you.

Pilot bearing is a pain but you'll get it. Whatever you have that works without gouging anything up. Seller on eBay or two are also board members , I think scooter0000 or some name like that has them listed as alternator needle bearings last I saw but they are what you need.

Good luck !
