1995 Legacy Fuel Leak At Driver's Side Rear Tire

Featured Replies

My Subaru 1995 Legacy has a fuel leak. The leak is under the car, right in front of the driver's rear tire.

There is an oval part with 3 pipes going through it and 3 hoses connected to it. One of the metal connectors is leaking, and I need to replace it.

I cannot seem to figure out what the part is called, it is beside the roll over valve and the fuel delivery hose, return hose and evaporation hose go through this part.

Can someone please help me identify this part :

Here is a picture of it looking from underneath the car.

That's just the grommet where the hoses pass through the floor of the car. Pull up the bottom of the back seat and you'll be able to get to the inside section.

You'll have to cut the rusty end of the tube off up inside the car, and just cut the fuel hose somewhere underneath where you can get to it to put a brass nipple fitting in it.

Run some new high pressure fuel hose (go to napa) through the grommet and get at least 2-3 inches of it stretched over the cut off section of the tube and clamp it twice with good hose clamps to hold it.

Totally agree with Fairtax. I have done the same in the past, and it works well. Just absolutely be sure that you buy high pressure fuel hose, nothing else, or you risk hose rupture. I clamped the hose 3 times with hose clamps at both ends, just to be super sure. I drove the car for many years with this repair, and it held up.

Thanks a million guys, I'm fixing this up right now!!

From underneath the car, it was hard to tell that it was rubber, but after taking out the seat I see what's going on.

Really appreciate the quick responses.
