1st gen fusible link amperage question

Hey all. Like many of you I plan on converting the fusible link to an inline fuse. Quick question, what's the link rated for amperage wise? I have fuses rated at 40A, but I'm not entirely sure that's what the vehicle was rated for from the factory.
