2000 outback frt differential drain-plug

Featured Replies

I am looking for the location of the front differential drain plug on a 2000 Subaru Outback(Atx). Looked under, the automatic tanny fluid drain plug is real obvious, but the diff drain plug is not. Any detailed help is really appreciated!!

Don't know what motor you have, but it should be in the right side. Look at the tranny pan, then look on the other side if the exhaust pipe running on the right side of the tranny pan. You'll see the diff case and the plug.

It's right in front of where the Y-pipe converges(yep, you'll get a bit of oil on the pipe when you drain it). It'll have the same aluminum-ish color of the diff case. I believe it's 22mm. There should also be a washer on the plug, I re-used the washer since it doesn't appear the be the "crush" type..

Hope that helps.
