Cranks but no start - '00 OBS

Featured Replies

Wow what an ordeal. Ok you said you checked fuel pressure. What was the pressure at while cranking? Unless you have an electrical gremlin, I doubt it's in the ignition side of the car especially after replacing parts with new/good used ones.

Ok, I will say I don't do well work outside in the sun in 100 degree weather and Kevin was right, I missed something stupid and basic and feel completely stupid.

I thought more than once, and even pointed it out to someone else, that the crank pulley just didn't look positioned right.  Well it wasn't.  It had scooted out a little bit, just enough to not be making proper contact with the sensor.  But having spare sensors is never a bad thing.

The bad news I'll post in another thread.

The outcome was a $300 engine going in the car.  As for the no start, the crank sprocket had scooted out just enough to cause it to not be contacting the CPS (Crank Position Sensor).  Without info from the CPS the ECU was causing a no-spark situation.
