2006 impreza passenger side rear door won't open. yes it says it is unlocked but it won't open. is there any way to get to the mechanism from the window opening or how is it done, this is annoying.

Won't open from inside or outside?

Have you locked and unlocked and tried to open it?

you've tried inside and outside handle?

it's not the child safety lock?

 

pop the interior panel off the door to get to the lock mechanism.  they're very easy, takes just a couple minutes.

 

the annoying part will be trying to find out and fix what's wrong with the linkages/lock/handle.  they tend to be a convoluted set of metal rods, plastic bits and all sorts of bends and fittings that tend to not divulge what's wrong immediately.

 

what i've done in tricky situations in particular is to remove both rear door panels and compare the good one to the bad one to identify the issue.

i will try that . does the panel just pop off?

fixed it finally,the child safty lock was jammed as well as the rest of the latch like someone tried to break in and jammed it.
