How would I go about removing the bolt for the tophat on these struts? Does it HAVE to be on the car to remove the bolt? The rod just keeps spinning and i cant get the nut off, in the past I have always been able to take this bolt off after removing the strut from the car but for this it seems it may be different? I know on the wrx there is a spot for an allen wrench to keep it from spinning but idk about these. Any help please? :E

Spray the hell out of it with penetrating oil.  I always put a vice grip around the shock shaft as high up as I can.  That method has always worked for me

Ah just as i thought, it's just a pain in the rump roast. I was just making sure I wasn't missing something obvious thanks guys.
