Just picked this fine little thing up a couple weeks ago, been sitting for 14 years. Has a little rust on corners but I will be properly fixing them as soon as the engine is running. For giggles I threw a jump starter on the dead battery and tossed some fuel in the carburetor as the tank was dry and pump seemed to be unhappy, it fired up fairly nice considering the condition it was in. Will be posting more soon! In the process of rebuilding the hitatchi carburetor currently and will have pictures and video soon!

Update: After carburetor rebuild and some tinkering, removed the giant mess of factory vacuum lines and simplified the vacuum system temporarily to troubleshoot my running issues. I was able to drive it around the block a couple of times using a fuel tank mounted remotely with gravity feed, because the fuel pump is not picking up. I just purchased a E8016S Airtex fuel pump and a set of filters to replace all at once. My main issue has been uncontrollable idle which seems to be from removing the duty solenoids (feedback carb) and a vacuum leak. I discovered after some more investigating, the throttle shafts in the carburetor are leaking fuel while not running and sucking in air while running . Will be ordering a Weber conversion, re-ring kit, and possibly a water pump and oil pump! So in the meantime I did a compression test. Results as follows; Cyl. 1 168PSI, Cyl. 2 145PSI, Cyl. 3 168PSI, Cyl. 4 155pPSI. With those results I was convinced to pull the engine with intentions of a freshen up! 85E6A2EC-7CFC-4C63-8237-C45F23072D5E_zps

Looking forward to a deep cleaning! She is nowhere near my standards.

This poor engine has been in need of some TLC for far too long.

Hard to see in the picture, but crosshatching is still very visible, Still need to tear down completely and make sure everything is up to spec for a re-ring and freshen up!

The buildup between the two cylinders gives me an idea of why the drivers side cylinders were not up to par.

Stay tuned for more! Will post another update shortly as time and funds allow.
