Hey I am new to the new (ish) Subarus. Just got this 1999 hatch and I want it to sound like a Subaru. I have absolutely no idea about what components I can switch out to make it rumble. It could be a little louder, but I don't want like straight pipe loud. Just a fun sound to accelerate to. This is just a 2.2 I am driving for a daily so I am not trying to build a race car and tune it out. But if it sounded cooler, I'd love that. Where do I start first?

WRX and STI Subarus have an unequal length exhaust header to give it that Thump Thump Thump sound. I have heard that cheap after market headers are available on the cheap, but don't know from where. Others here may know.

 

Going to a glass pack muffler will not make a better sound, it will just get loud.
