Blower Motor Mystery

Featured Replies

I'm replacing my blower motor in my 1995 Impreza 1.8. The new one is plugged in however there is a weird thing happening. It will not come on unless I press on the squirrel cage.. When it does come on it responds to speed changes from the dial. I'm lost on what it could be. Thank you! I'm at work (delivering pizza) and I cant work because the windshield is so frozen up. I'm blind out there and could use some help!

Sounds like it's time for a new motor.

The brushes are most likely worn out.

Is the new blower a junkyard part?

The common cause for that is the armature brushes are stuck in the brush holders.

If its a new aftermarket blower take it back because its faulty.
