Performance Alternators

Featured Replies

I have been on the interwebs and all over this forum for the last few days and can not seem to find anything on performance alternators (100+ amp). I've been building up a lifted Subaru for some time now and have recently put on a but load of lights. My stock 60amp does ok when not running all the lights at once, but I just purchased 2 12" led light bars for it and I will definitely need to upgrade now. Does anyone on here know where I can pick up a 100-160amp alternator online? I drive a 1990 Subaru Loyale with the EA82 automatic in it.

Alternator for the 3.6 engines is 130? amps I think.

I know someone here has put one in a second gen legacy, I just don't remember who off the top of my head.

Not sure about fitment on the EA engine. You may have better luck asking in the older gen forum.

Gm alternators fit, get a self igniter so easy one wire hook up. You can get them pumped up to 160amps I beleive. I think you do have to either file one side of the alt or shorten the bracket. There's info on it in here, but it will be in the old gen forum. I think the Nissan maxima has a high output alternator that fits the old gen loyals, that's a direct fit plug and play, GD has a writeup in the old gen forum IIRC

Maybe I'll swap this topic to the old gen one. Can you link me to that write up by chance mikaleda?
