i have tried two aftermarket 4 pin remanufactured and new sensors but they don't work. the replacement sensor at my local Subaru dealership has only 4 pin also. is

I don't think I've ever seen a five pin MAF sensor on a Subaru.

What's the part number on your original sensor? 

oe#22680 AA160F is the original part # for the 1992 legacy l non turbo

That's the same one they used for all of the 2.2 cars up to 98. Easy to find in junkyards. Usually around $35-50.

Could also check car-part.com for salvage yards near you.

Ya that part number is the same as my 90 and its original 4 pin maf
