EA82 4WD bearing sleeve press tool - homemade

Featured Replies

I followed the 4WD bearing guide that 987687 submiited and created my own tool to press bearing sleeve in. Might be helpfull to those that are just discovering there awesome cars.

Note: carefull not bang the double jack to far while removing the sleeve it may damage the builtin bearing stop surface.

Used 3/4" x 12" allthread

3ea 3/4" nuts

Edit: 2ea 7/8" 2-1/2 washers(used over size hole size to make small adjustments)

1ea 3/4"x 3" sq washer ( i used slotted)

1ea 1-1/4 pvc adapter(perfectly tapered to fit inside the sleeve)

Edit: used 2ea 3/4" x 2-1/4 also on both ends

Center bearing and tool a slowly tight and recheck centering. Then slowly tight inside nut and it just slips in. It will feel like it resisting, continue to tighten slowly.. Till full seats against bearing stop. I going to replace my other bearing soon, so think with some mods it can used to remove bearing as well.
