Oil in spark plug

Featured Replies

I have a 1996 Impreza and I found some oil in the spark plug tube what can I do to fix? Will changing the valve cover gasket fix?

Are you positive it's not from power steering or oil spillage during an oil change, etc?

Is it the original engine?

The stock EJ18 or Ej22 in that car doesn't typically leak from VCG to spark plug tubes.

It is original engine with almost 330000 miles I found it in cylinder 1 only and it felt like oil to me and it doesn't look like anything else is leaking I have an o2 issue and I didn't see anything about my engine having plug gaskets

It's probably from the steering pump. Only way for oil to get in the plug wells on that engine is to run in from the top. No seals to go bad.

The steering pumps leak slow from the reservoir o-ring and the fluid runs across the top of the block and right over to the #1 plug hole.

Leaking oil pressure sender can do the same.
