why idle is drifting on my ej2.2

Featured Replies

-this is a 1996.. or 94? ej 2.2 that was swapped into a 89' touring wagon.

-has been running fine/great for last 5000 miles or so but yesterday it started running rough and idlle keeps drifting up to 2000rpm, like when i start it cold but tapping the gas doesnt make the idle drop back down.

-it is also throwing a code on the ecu that is two slow blinks and four fast blinks. gonna go now and try to find a code guide of some sort

.. . . . .it also seems to drift between 700 and 2000rpm on its own...  and when it is down around 700rpm it runs really rough like its going to die.

Hi,

Is this a Legacy? There was no Touring Wagon  (in the USA) 'til the '92 TW w/the turbo.

24    Air control valve    Air control valve inoperative (Abnormal signal produced in monitor circuit)    Prevents abnormal engine speed using "fuel cut" in relation to engine speed, vehicle speed, and throttle sensor position

Search online - probably best on Legacy Central - about cleaning the IAC / ISC - Idle air control / idle speed control - valve.

You can also replace just the top portion....read up on that too.

GL,

Td
