October 11, 20169 yr I went cheap on my last axles 6 months ago because times were tight, now im going new. These axles say "front wheel drive axle" but says compatible with the 84 brat, just want to male sure these are for 4wd application not 2wd https://www.amazon.com/GCK-Industrial-SB8002-Front-Wheel/dp/B000FF3GI8/ref=sr_1_3?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1476186572&vehicle=1984-13-54-4-59-31-8-8-3195-112-2---212-2-0&sr=1-3&ymm=1984%3Asubaru%3Abrat
October 11, 20169 yr The only difference would be automatic or manual , they are different lengths. And the " turbo shafts have a different spline count . but 2wd or 4wd are the same ..
October 11, 20169 yr All ea81 axles are interchangeable, the turbo ea81's are still 23 spline. 2wd, 4wd, turbo, all the same front axles.
October 11, 20169 yr Author Ok, thought i read the 2wd ones are weaker, which is part of the problem with remans, thanks
October 11, 20169 yr In stock form the 4wd's had a smaller shaft than the fwd models. Fwd axles have have the same thickness shaft as early legacy axles. I've used them to build 5 lug ea81 width axles a few times.
October 11, 20169 yr Remans in general such because they're using substandard parts and minimal quality control.
