June 11, 200421 yr I noticed these folds in my legacy, and know I know what they are. http://www.sjblaw.com/news/summer00_p2.html Seems like 6" is a bit much. I can see a couple of inches to try and reduce impact. I wonder if its better to cut the stiches and just let the ratchet take up the extra slack.
June 11, 200421 yr Is that "rip stitch" only on the older seperate lap/shoulder belts? Do we know what years and models are effected? Not a pretty story...

Has anyone talked to Subaru about this? I wonder if those of us with lecacy's can get new belts? I know that there was an issue with our old Honda and they send us a recal and put in new belts for us in a 10 year old car.
June 11, 200421 yr I didn't see any recalls when I looked on alldata.com related to the seat belts for that car. I hate to sound like a broken record on this one but consider this next time you see an animal in the road. "The Montana Highway Patrolman testified that Mr. Barnard swerved to avoid an animal."

When did subaru do away with the motor belts? I think this would also affect loyales with motor belts. I called subaru USA and they are checking for me now.
June 11, 200421 yr my belts are already ripped, there's a lil warning under it that says something. I cant remember it off the top of my head. Does this mean my lap belt needs to be replaced?
June 12, 200421 yr it says replace belt in all red letters, but this isnt the stitching I thought it was I see what you're talking about and that is still safe, any thoughts on the replace belt warning?
June 14, 200421 yr Talked to Subaru of America today, they said basically that I can replace the belts at my own cost. Subaru does not have a recall and will not pay for new belts. :-\
