November 4, 20169 yr Is there anyway to remove the front axle stubs from the transmission i have a broken punch in my axle stub from the previous owner and it would be easier to remove on a bench than under the car
November 5, 20169 yr Auto trans, yes Manual, not so much. The pin should be hollow. If you can use a small diameter punch to pop the other out from the far side.
November 5, 20169 yr Author I tried that i dont have a long enough small punch unfortunatly. It is a manual trans though so they arnt like newer modles where the axle stub is held in by a circlip. That stinks i eould much rather do this on a bench
November 5, 20169 yr Kinda shadey tree style, but i cut a long thin hex key to be just a straight punch, cut the little bend off, and it lives in my axle/wheel bearing kit
November 5, 20169 yr Author Do you have a picture of said shade tree tool im interested lol just cant picture it
November 5, 20169 yr Just a set of the long allen wrenches, cut the bend off, every punch i tried that was the right diameter was too short, ill see if i can dig it out for a picture,
November 5, 20169 yr It works with the bend even but your hammer just wants to roll off onto fingers lol, so i cut mine as it was a cheapy harbor freight.
November 5, 20169 yr Author Ah i gotcha i figured out what you ment after i thought about it ill see if thag works
