I'm tracking down a parasitic drain and need to pull SBF #5 in the engine bay fuse box every time I'm not in the car to keep it from draining. 

 

But every time I do this - it sets off the car alarm. 

 

Can I unplug or otherwise disable the security system in a 2002 Outback H6?

looks like i can unplug the security computer behind the stereo and everything operates as if it didn't have a security system. 

Sorry, I don't have any advice..but do you think my problem is the same as yours?

 

"I just bought a 2006 outback 2.5L 

It didn't come with a remote control(fob) for the locks so I ordered one off amazon. The instructions it came with were kind of confusing and didn't work when I tried to program it so I just used some instructions off the internet and it worked fine. 

The very same night the car wouldn't start. I played with the battery cables, cleaned the terminals and ground, and still nothing. Jumping it worked. I drove to Oreillys where I work, and as soon as I turned the car off it lost all power again, dash lights, dome light, everything. So I took the battery and alternator out to bench-test them and they both came back fine. I can jump start it successfully every time, but as soon as I turn the key off I lose all electrical power.

Could it be a security issue or something from the new key fob? Im stumped at this point.

keep in mind that 2006's are different from 2002's.

 

how old is the battery?

 

i might be reading your description incorrectly but your description sounds like it's impossible to be anything except the battery or connectivity. 

 

the immobilizer/security system can not tell if power is coming from your battery or jumper cables or a power pack or a windmill.  it either has enough voltage/amps to operate, or it does not.  

if it has "no power" but you can jump start it then:
A.  the battery is bad - maybe it has internal issues that allow it to test fine momentarily but under a heavy starting load it's DOA....?

B.  the battery post is dirty

C.  the terminal that connects to the battery is dirty

D.  the battery cable is dirty. 

 

test the battery, clean the posts, clean the terminals, clean the cable/terminal connection. 

a multimeter can be used to test voltage of the posts, terminal connectors, and at the starter/alternator/fuse box.

 

I would start there and then look into the aftermarket FOB as a possible issue.
