February 22, 20179 yr Quick question, what's involved in removing my turbo? I need to replace my coolant hose under it. Is there a way to do it without removing the turbo? it's an 1989 gl wagon. Thanks guys!
February 22, 20179 yr Its way easier to remove the turbo. Not that hard either. Remove the exhaust bolts and then the turbo and the coolant hose you can get to no problem. Just be easy with the exhaust bolts, don't break them.
February 22, 20179 yr Author I'll give it a shot! Do I need to replace those gaskets when i put it back together? Are there any oil lines i should be worried about?
February 22, 20179 yr Author I just noticed that it's leaking coolant out of all the gaskets on the turbo that connect to exhaust. What does that mean??
February 23, 20179 yr Yes, go to the dealer in Gorst and get the actual turbo exhaust gaskets and the hoses. Yes there is the oil line on top, the metal hard line. Beware of taking it off. Bolt, washer, through metal line, washer. Make sure you put back together same way. Once you take off the top hard line you will see what I mean. Just take your time and pay attention to detail. I always take pics to refer back to double check.
February 23, 20179 yr Oh and by the way, take it apart and take the hoses down to the Subaru Dealer with you. They are idiots down there and I had to so them what to get. As a matter of fact, I showed the guy up so bad that there was another guy in a suite standing behind the counter watching the whole scene. He kept pulling up the wrong car and I recognized from the pics that it was the wrong car. Once I showed him the part # and zhowed them they actually did have the part, after being told a dozen times it wasn't there, the guy in the suite offered me a job. But I refused cause I make more as an electrician.
