Trying to put a 7inch lift on my 98 impreza 2.2l

Featured Replies

I want to put a 7inch lift on my 98 Subaru impreza 2.2l an I wanna do it right. What do I need to do to make it official. I know I want to put 31inch tires an what other information should I know. So I can buy all the parts at once. I also wanna make my Subaru stick what transmission would I use

31" wil not fit without wheel spacers.  So 7 inch is maybe a bit much.  3 inches is enough to fit 29" (235/75/15) with trimming.

And you want a Dual range 5spd from a 85-89 GL (not hatch or brat)

You will need an adapter plate and a redrilled flywheel.

Personally I would leave the Auto.  It can crawl better and you can rebuild/modify the 4wd transfer to work very much like a true locked 4wd.

Go for the swap later if you burn up the 4EAT.

I have wheel spaces 5x100. I already have forester's struts an springs an 1inch trailing arms

Just keep in mind the taller the lift the bigger the leverage the blocks have against the body.  Meaning that you will rip the captive bolts out of the body if you don't crossbrace the lift blocks.  And even then you still might.

I'm just gonna say it.......If you can't get it done with 6 inches, you ain't gonna get there with 7.

OK let's say I'm doing 6inch lift what is the list of things I need for me to build it I have king springs in the mail

I can help ,I could make one similar to the 6" I make. http://www.sjrlift.com/index.php/catalog/lift-kits/0-6-lift-kit-ej-fits-90-99-detail

For 31" tires stock Subaru struts may not work as there's not enuf room under spring , 29" is about max, now if you got some rally type smaller diameter springs you could do it without wheel spacers, XT forester struts I think have the most room, not sure how big you can go on them
