ej20 sohc cam sensor

Featured Replies

Hi Guys and Gals

well here goes ...firstly I am a Subaru Noob... but I have been messing with cars since I was a Kid (62 now) I am trying to fix my sons car  2001 subaru forester EJ20 sohc ( university student ) I have a 2004 impreza engine EJ20 sohc with 50000 kilometres  to put in....

that's the good part..... the impreza engine has cam sensor at the front in the timing cover ...left side......I think I need to have my eyes tested because i cannot for the life of me find the cam sensor on the forester

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I just put an EJ20 into my 03 Forester and the JDM EJ20 Cam Sensor was in the same place, Behind the driver's side cam gear.

Hi Mike thanks for your reply.....I had posted this problem on a forester specific site in Australia and received a reply saying that there is no sensor on the early foresters from a subaru mechanic

this is the conversation on facebook....this may be helpful to others  Cheers  :D

Steve Siladi Very early type. Lots of ecu failures back in 98 with them. When removing the crank sproket dont damage the teeth

Thanks for the information.  Many here are USDM users so the intricacies of the Aus vehicles is limited.
