Rear U-joint on a 87 3dr 4x4

Featured Replies

Whats up with the rear u-joint on a 87 3dr 4x4. How in the hell do you change it?

Craven

just get a new driveline from a wrecking yard.. the U joints are considered non servicable items..

other option is to have a machine shop press them out and install 'serviceable' ones..

Since they don't commonly go out, I would just get another driveshaft.

if you decide yo go with a junkyard driveshaft, all you will need is the rear half from the carrier back. the rear half is the same length for any model, auto and manual.

I did a search and found alot of info. I think maybe I can come up with a fix using a U-joint with inner C-clips.
