The emblem of my 2004 Forester is missing, how can I tell if it's an XT, X, or XS ?

x = base model

 

XS = higher end (heated seats and mirrors, rear discs, etc...)

 

XT = turbo

 

XT premium = turbo with premium interior and electronic controlled temp.

The residue of glue from the emblem appears to end with an "S" and your description sounds like it.

X has rear drum brakes and non-painted lower body cladding

 

XS has rear disks and painted lower body cladding

It's still me asking, I can now tell it's an XS, but it appears there were two letters before that, what could they have been?
