SkiGuyGT
I've heard the subaru filter is just a purolator that works really well, well they have 2 types which one is best? I think the PureOne is more money but maybe its just a gimick! Purolator Website Both look ok to me... I was gonna pick up 5 or 6 on my next visit so I wanna decide which one to use. blitz
The Subaru factory filter is made by Purolator and HAS a anti-drainback valve as also does the PureOne. The Premium plus 14460 however does not have the ADBV. Having said that, the non-valved filter is the one I use. In fact, if you live near a Pep-Boyz, you can get it for even a buck cheaper as the house brand "Pro-Line PPL-14460".
Commuter
From what I've been able to tell (I've cut a few different filters open), the Subaru-Purolator filter is pretty much a Premium plus. The PureONE has a different filtering media. The 'microfibers', greater number of pleats, etc. With some of the stuff I've read on filtering, the particle size that causes the most wear, the fact that many filters barely capture this particle size, etc... I think the oil filter is more important than we realize. The PureONE strikes me as a very good, readily available filter. If you buy 6 or 12 (a case), you can get a good discount. Just haggle. Crashton
I've been using the PureOne Purolator for the last 4 years or so. They seem to work well & are easy for me to source locally. I'd say either filter you've meantioned would work well.
