Anyone ever used a turbo flywheel with a non turbo transmission?

Just wondering if its possible . I tried but could not get it to work. Even welded two throwout bearings together with no luck. Is there some sort of way to get this to work. I had a ford 2.3 and installed a escort flywheel then used a throwout bearing from a 72 chevy pickup with success .

There were several different turbo trans and flywheel types.  

Some will work with the NA trans, others will not.
