A/C Compressor oil

Featured Replies

I bought a new A/C compressor for my 84 brat. The system was already converted over to R134a. The new compressor does not come with any oil in it. Can someone tell me how much oil I should add and if I should use PAG 46?

Thanks in advance!

I usually contact the seller I bought the compressor from. When I replaced the compressor on my ‘88 Wagon, I was told 8oz. of PAG 150, yours may be different. Also, ifyou haven’t already, l would suggest going through and replacing all the o-rings with R134 compatible ones.

Gday Stallone,

If it is the Panasonic or Hitachi MJS style compressor iirc the original mineral oil was Suniso 5GS which has an ISO viscosity rating of 100. So you will want PAG100 oil to put in.

As for quantity (also going off memory because I can't find my book) I believe it was 120ml from empty. Its strange that a new compressor didn't come with new oil in it already.

Hope this helps.
