Is there a way to tell which one goes to which head?  I'm wondering if there may have been a mix up between heads when they were scattered on the bench.

May vary by year, but for a 2002 EJ251:

- The left-side cover (looking forwards) Part#13278AA220  has an extra flanged pipe-stub, for the oil-filler tube.

- The right-side cover (looking forwards) Part#13264AA143 is without the extra pipe-stub.

Thats the valve cover.  I am looking for the part that holds the camshaft in on an EJ253 SOC

Disregard, I found matching numbers for the each head.
