95 Impreza 2.2 OBD I or 2?

Featured Replies

Seems like there is conflicting information on internet on whether 95 Impreza 2.2’s were OBD I or 2? Bought a motor, ecu, and harness off a guy to use in a VW swap, but unfortunately the harness didn’t have all the elements required like relays. So now I need to source some remaining components.

Is there a way to tell if a harness/motor is obd 1 besides the obvious is there a obd2 plug? The donor vehicle is no longer available.

yeah, 95 was kind of a crossover year.. the OBDII mandate was in place, but was not required until the 96 model year - which usually starts in the fall of the previous year.
Some Subaru's had OBDII in 95 model year - I know for sure the Legacy did (i owned one of that year), but sorry, I do not know if the Impreza did.
