1999 Legacy OBW, 2.5 DOHC, Speedometer/Odometer problem, VSS?

Featured Replies

From culling info from previous posts, it looks like I'll have to replace the speedometer head in my 1999 OBW. Can any of you Subaru gurus advise what this part looks like? Is this the panel behind the dashboard cluster (when dash is removed)? The speedometer/odometer only starts working when the engine is warm--after driving 20-30 minutes. I don't know where the Vehicle Speed Sensor is located in the engine, but before the speedometer head is ordered my son will be tightening connections behind the dash, and hopefully can locate the VSS in the engine compartment and see if it is properly seated. TIA for any info!
