1988 gl 1.8 timing problem

Featured Replies

i am trying to time my subaru chiltons manual says to conect a test wire witch is soposed to be green by disconecting a couple of blue wires. i cant find the green wire i have a brown one that is not used. cound this be it?

also it says to turn the idle switch to the off position. where in the world is it? i have read all the book and no referance to it anywhere. with out doing these to things it tells me i cant time it. that seems to be right because the timing marks arent even close right now. it is running however. need your help. thanks

Which fuel system do you have, SPFI or MPFI turbo

If its SPFI, the green connectors are under the hood , drivers side firewall

If its MPFI turbo, they are under the dash, to the right of the fuse box.

the green clips when plugged in will cycle the fuel pump off an on when the car is on and the motor is not running.

start the car, then plug in the green clips to adjust the static time. then un plug them and there you go. timing should be 20 deg btdc. good luck! pitch the chiltons manual its junk!
