Featured Replies

hey, i have a 1996 subaru impreza wagon L and i just got a after market air filter, the one were you have to take off your stock airfilter box and put a coned shap one on, but when i did this i relized there was a sensor that i guess checks how much air is flowing into your engine and if i take this peice off my check enigine light stays on. can anyone help me?

You need a "MAF adapter". Don't run the car without the MAF sensor - Mass Air Flow.

you should be able to take the stock box off and put the filter on, perhaps in some kind of rigged way, and still have the sensor on.

Here are pictures of mine rigged to the box:

I got such poor gas mileage, and ruined a MAF sensor I just put the box back on.

To connect the filter to the box I cut off the 'wing' part that sticks out you screw to the box and used PVC cement to keep it on there. Also, I had to strap on a rubber thing to insert into the MAF sensor unit so I it would be more stabe.

check with www.imprezars.com see if he has a MAF adaptor for you

dont mess with your MAF.

it breaks, the car will go into limp mode and fail to run correctly

also, they're $300 each to replace

i wouldnt install any intake that was not meant to adapt to the MAF sensor

good luck

jamie
